Post 1: Dog in the night-time

           I give The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time a 7.5/10. The book was very well written and detailed, but sometimes got a little too detailed where it was kind of weird. I like the aspect of having an autistic person being the main character. It is a very unique way to word a story. He just describes what he can see and what is logical. The story really keeps you on your toes, with twists that you don’t really expect to happen, it goes from an investigation of a dead dog to unveiling a whole network of things he thought to be true. The story in theory seems a little dull or boring, an autistic kid tries to figure out who killed his neighbor’s dog, but the author executes it very well. He brings in believable events to make the story interesting. I like the dad the best in the story, sometimes he loses his temper, but not very often. He seems like a typical father figure, one who always wants the best for his kid and to keep him happy, but sometimes loses his cool and reacts in a bad manner. It was probably difficult to have to single handedly take care of Christopher for so many years, without having this sort of thing happen before. Even though he kind of let Christopher get all the way to London from home, he kind of messed up on that one.

Even though the book is really good and really well written. Sometimes it gets a little slow. Chris gets to detailed into his daily life which happens to be very boring. He starts rambling on about math and does a ton of problems in his head, which gets a little old. We kind of have to wait a while for Chris adventure which is the most exciting part of the book. But once it comes up it the story really ramps up in place, questions answered, adventures to be had, it is really the starting point of the  book for me.
